FLASH ALERT: Enugu APC rejects Obasanjo’s call for an Igbo President in 2019

The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Sunday rejected former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s suggestion that the South-East should produce the country’s President in 2019.
Speaking when the leadership of the Ogun State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit, Obasanjo had said the South-East should have a shot at the Presidency in 2019.

“Irrespective of the thinking of the people ahead of 2019, I personally think that South-East should have a go at the Presidency too,” the former President had said.
But the APC in Enugu State has rejected Obasanjo’s suggestion.
The Publicity Secretary of the party in Enugu State, Mrs. Kate Offor, who spoke to journalists while welcoming former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani, and other new entrants in the South-East to the APC, said Igbos would wait for President Muhammadu Buhari to complete two terms of four years before having a shot at the Presidency.
Offor said there was no need for the South-East to move for the office in 2019, when it was already the turn of the zone to produce the President in 2023, going by the zoning arrangement.
“In the political domain, there is the law with its legal teeth and the convention with its moral weight; the political convention today in Nigeria which the ex President is a prime beneficiary states that the office of the President should be rotated between the South – eight years – and the North – eight years.
“We stand by that convention.
“Since our entry into the Fourth Republic in 1999, we supported Obasanjo – the South-West by extension, and we supported Jonathan – South-South by extension.
“Now that the Igbos have resolved to support Buhari, we are hopeful of 2023,” she said.
Offor noted that the movement of some prominent South-East politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance to the APC shows that Igbos are now ready to ‘play mainstream politics’.
“For us the exodus of Igbos from the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance into the APC is testimony of the realisation that it is bad politics to put all our eggs in one basket.
“No one ethnic group can benefit in isolation.
“It is better for Igbos to play in the big league and mainstream of Nigeria.

White House considering asking foreign visitors for intimate details like social media info and phone contacts

Following President Trump's executive order on immigration, Stephen Miller, the White House policy director revealed to officials of the State Department, Customs and Border Patrol, Department of Homeland Security and others that Trump is deeply committed to the executive order and has the support of the public.

On that note, Trump administration officials are discussing the possibility of asking foreign visitors to disclose all websites and social media sites they visit, and to share the contacts in their cell phones. Refusal to comply could lead to the visitor being denied entry.

The White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, was contacted by CNN for comments but he did not respond. Meanwhile, on Sunday, Trump defended the executive order he signed, saying in a statement that the ban was not about religion but about keeping America safe.

"We will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do while protecting our own citizens and voters,"  He said.

"This is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting. This is not about religion -- this is about terror and keeping our country safe."

Probe alleged N15m fraud in Ondo Assembly, APC urges EFCC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged N15 million fraud in the Ondo State House of Assembly.
The APC, in a statement issued in Akure on Monday by its Ondo State Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Adesanya, commended members of the Assembly for changing the leadership over the alleged fraud.
The Assembly, had on Friday, Jan. 27, impeached the Speaker, Ms Jumoke Akindele, and other principal officers over allegation of N15 million fraud.
The sum of N15 million was allegedly found in the possession of the Assembly Pay Master, Mr Makanjuola Adesina, who told the lawmakers that it was withdrawn on the instruction of the Speaker for a project which he failed to disclose.
Adesanya said the discovery was a confirmation of the party’s previous allegations that there was a “looting spree’’ in all the state ministries, departments and agencies.
“The removal of the Speaker, Ms Jumoke Akindele, and her Deputy, Mr Fatai Olu, on allegation of fraud is an attestation of Mimiko’s looting spree in all ministries, agencies and parastatals in the state in the last eight years.
“The party called on the EFCC to arrest the former Speaker, former Deputy Speaker, and former Majority Leader, Mr Ifedayo Akinsoyinu, for investigations over the alleged N15 million fraud and other financial recklessness in the Assembly.
“The Assembly has been a rubber stamp of anything goes, under the leadership of the former Speaker.
“It is noteworthy that the honourable members could summon courage this time around to question the leadership of the house, which seems untouchable, by the outright removal of the Speaker and Deputy.
“The former Speaker has been of tremendous help to Gov. Olusegun Mimiko in plunging Ondo State into indebtedness to the tune of about N150 billion in loans without due process and commensurate achievements, but rather the money went into private pockets,’’ he said.
Adesanya charged the new leadership of the Assembly to prevent the looting of the state treasury by the outgoing government.
“We appeal to the new leadership of the Assembly to prevent last minutes looting of the state’s treasury and properties through awards of phony contracts with massive payment of mobilisation feeswithout budgetary allocation,’’ he said.
Adesanya said that the party would provide necessary support and information to the EFCC in the course of its investigation into the alleged looting spree and unabated corruption in the state in the last eight years.
“We once again applauded the EFCC for a job well done during the arrest of Mr Johnson Ogunyemi, the Chairman of Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) over allegation of fraud in the commission.

Canada to offer temporary residency permit to those travelers affected by Trump's ban

It has been revealed that Canada will offer temporary residency to those travellers currently stranded by the ban Trump placed on citizens of seven Muslim nations. This was made known by Canada's immigration minister, Ahmed Hussen.

Hussen, who was himself a Somali refugee, stated that no one is stranded at any of Canada's airport at the moment.

"Let me assure those who may be stranded in Canada that I will use my authority as minister to provide them with temporary residency if they need it, as we have done so in the past," Hussen said.

It was also earlier revealed by the U.S. State Department that dual Canadian citizens (i.e citizens from any of the barred countries who also have Canadian citizenship) were included in the ban. However, Daniel Jean, Canada's national security adviser, said that was not the case. He revealed that White House officials have assured them that citizens from the affected countries who are also Canadian citizens are not affected by the ban.

In related news, leaders of Canada's technology sector have signed an open letter urging their government to provide working visa to tech workers affected by the Trump ban. Jennifer Moss, co-founder of a Canadian tech company said such visas are to help tech workers blocked from returning to the US to now live and work in Canada while they apply for permanent residency if they want to.

"If you're not interested in keeping people that are extremely talented, intelligent, brilliant minds from all around the world, and turning them away at the borders, we're happy to take those people in our country," Moss said.

Donald Trump’s Immigration Order Sparks Confusion amidst Detention at Airports

Scientists, business travelers and grandmothers were among those trapped at U.S. airports or diverted in transit to the U.S. Saturday as the impact of an executive order reverberated around the globe.
Citing security concerns, President Donald Trump late Friday suspended the entire U.S. refugee program for four months and banned for 90 days entry into the U.S. of nationals from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somali, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
Late Saturday, a federal judge issued a temporary injunction that blocked the deportation of those detained at airports. But the judge stopped short of allowing them into the country and didn’t address the constitutionality of Mr. Trump’s measures.
In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said it would “comply with judicial orders; faithfully enforce our immigration laws, and implement the president’s Executive Orders to ensure that those entering the United States do not pose a threat to our country or the American people.”
The order sowed confusion and despair among travelers and family members Saturday as customs inspectors began implementing it at ports of entry.  Protesters gather Saturday at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, where some people arriving from Muslim countries were detained. PHOTO: JUSTIN LATE/EUROPEAN PRESSPHOTO AGENCY
A senior Department of Homeland Security official said Saturday that in the first 23 hours the order was in effect, 375 people had been detained on arrival in the U.S., prevented from boarding flights at their point of departure or intercepted while en route to the U.S.
One man who was about to be placed on a plane leaving the U.S. was allowed to stay after the judge issued her ruling, and ordered government officials to remove the man from the plane during Saturday night’s court hearing. Dozens more were detained at airports around the country. Some were granted waivers and released, government officials said, but others were still waiting for some resolution.
The president’s order also capped the number of refugees that can enter the U.S. this year at 50,000, less than half the number previously committed, and indefinitely halted the entry of refugees from Syria.Few refugees were affected by the order on Saturday because they don’t fly to the U.S. on weekends, according to officials with U.S. resettlement agencies that receive them.

How President Donald Trump Affects the Bitcoin Price in 2017.

Bitcoin predicted to rise 165% to $2,000 in 2017 driven by Trump’s ‘spending binge’ and dollar rally

The price of Bitcoin could hit more than $2,000 in 2017 driven by expectations that U.S. President- Donald Trump may introduce economic stimulus policies, which could send inflation soaring and propel the dollar to record highs, a report from Saxo Bank claims.
Bitcoin is currently trading around $854.51, according to CoinDesk data. A handle of over $2,000 would represent 165 percent appreciation.
During his election campaign Trump has talked about an increase in fiscal spending. Saxo Bank's note said that this could increase the roughly $20 trillion of U.S. national debt and triple the current budget deficit from approximately $600 billion to $1.2-1.8 trillion, or some 6-10 percent of the country's current $18.6 trillion economy.
As a result, the economy will grow and inflation will "sky rocket", forcing the U.S. Federal Reserve to hike interest rates at a faster pace and causing the U.S. dollar "to hit the moon".
When inflation rises the Federal Reserve may raise interest rates to bring it under control. This causes the dollar to appreciate because it would be seen as an attractive currency for foreign investors.
"This creates a domino effect in emerging markets and China in particular, leading people globally to look for alternative forms of currencies and payment systems not tied to central banks that have exhausted monetary policies or crony governments that are in full financial repression mode nor transaction systems that are long overdue for a revolution," Steen Jakobsen, chief economist at Saxo Bank, wrote in a note.
Bitcoin as the largest cryptocurrency would benefit from this "chaos", he added, as emerging market countries look to move away from "being tied" to the monetary policy of the U.S. and banking system.
Bitcoin
Benoit Tessier | Reuters
"If the banking system as well as sovereigns such as Russia and China move to accept Bitcoin as a partial alternative to the USD and the traditional banking and payment system, then we could see Bitcoin easily triple over the next year going from the current $700 level to +$2,100 as the blockchain's decentralized system, an inability to dilute the finite supply of bitcoins as well as low to no transaction costs gains more traction and acceptance globally," Jakobsen said.
Blockchain is the underlying technology of bitcoin which records every transaction using the digital currency so that it can't be tampered with. There is also a finite supply of 21 million bitcoins. This in theory would cause price appreciation of the asset over a long period of time.
Jakobsen's comments were in his annual "Outrageous Predictions" note and the economist says that his views are not the official outlook for Saxo Bank. Instead they are an attempt to "get you to think out of the box" with the aim of "provoking conversation".

Bitcoin rise realistic

But Bitcoin advocates say that the slower appreciation of the dollar against the yuan in comparison to bitcoin against the dollar shows that the $2,000 handle is not unrealistic. The dollar has risen 3.3 percent against the yuan in the last three months while bitcoin has gone up 20.7 percent in the same time period.
Bobby Lee, chief executive at bitcoin exchange BTC China, compared the current situation of cryptocurrencies to the advent of digital cameras. He said that it is a "new asset class" with long-term potential.
"It's the advent of digital currency and with bitcoin there is bound to be more in circulation value in the coming years," Lee told CNBC by phone. The amount of bitcoin in circulation is valued at around $12.1 billion.

Cryptocurrency Hedge fund manager Jacob Eliosoff told CoinDesk:
"I think a Trump presidency would be great for bitcoin, much like nuclear war would be great for bitcoin. It would be an epic disaster in a bunch of respects – economic, geopolitical, democratic – and in the fear and chaos bitcoin would be a defensive asset people could turn to.”

How To Get Bitcoin - Easy Guide To Earn Bitcoin Fast and Free in 2017

Image result for convert bitcoin to naira

There is no easy way to make a substantial amount of Bitcoins

Just like there’s no easy way to make a substantial amount of US dollars or any other valuable currency for that matter. The good news is that if you’re willing to put in the effort, you can achieve some very nice earnings online. Later on in this post, I’ll expose some of my own earnings so you can see what I mean.
Also, there’s no such thing as “free bitcoins”. It will always cost you something to get Bitcoins. It may not always be money, but something needs to be spent, whether it’s time, your email address, viewing ads or anything else.
I hope I didn’t burst your bubble too much right at the start of this post, but if you’re still here with me, let’s dive into the different ways you can earn Bitcoins today.

#1 – Micro Earnings

This is probably the easiest niche to get into, but it’s also the most time consuming. Methods that belong to this niche usually take up a lot of time and pay a fairly small (almost irrelevant) amount of Bitcoins. Even if you have a lot of free time on your hands, this still won’t bring you too much income. Also, some of the websites that pay out micro earnings have built-in malware and viruses, so you need to stay safe and not click any links you don’t trust.

PTC or Paid-to-Click websites ($0.4/hour on avg.)

As the name suggests, these are websites that will give you small amounts of Bitcoin for viewing ads and visiting websites. The most popular PTC website today is ads4BTC. The site will give you a choice between 5-second ads, 10-second ads and 20-second ads, as shown here:
Ads4BTC payoutAs you can see, even if we watch 20-second ads all day long for 24 hours, we will be making 0.0216BTC. So basically, we’ll be making $9.612 for 24 hours of work.

Bitcoin Faucets ($0.054/hour on avg.)

Even though running a Bitcoin Faucet can be profitable (more on this later on), using a faucet isn’t as much. Faucets are websites that will give you a small quantity of Bitcoins every few minutes. For example, MoonBit,  Bitcoin faucet gives up to 10000 Satoshis (0.0001BTC) every five minutes. But even if you managed to hit the 10000 prize every time for a full 24 hours, you’d still be making only 0.0288BTC. it is advisable to try as many faucets to Maximze your Profit. other Bitcoin Faucet include BitcoinkerEasyBitCoin .. just to mention a few

Micro jobs

There is always the possibility of completing micro tasks in order to get paid small amounts of Bitcoin. Coinworker is a good example of a micro jobs Bitcoin site. Jobs can be anything from testing a web application on a browser to retweeting a post.

#2 – Writing about Bitcoin

Writing about Bitcoin requires time, knowledge and the ability to write in the required language (usually English). Through writing, you can start making a nice income depending on where you choose to write.

BitcoinTalk Signature Campaigns ($2.67/hour on avg.)

Somewhere around mid-2014, BitcoinTalk started running signature campaigns. What this means is that you use your BitcoinTalk’s signature to advertise a Bitcoin product and get paid for every post you write. The complete list of campaigns can be seen here. Of course, this created a lot of “junk” posts on BitcoinTalk, like people saying just “thank you” or “awesome post” and not adding any actual content.
You get paid according to your membership level on BitcoinTalk. Usually, anyone under a full member won’t get paid that much or paid at all. To becoming a full member, you’ll need at least 120 posts under your belt, and then you can start earning 0.0005BTC on average per post. There are also limitations on posts you can write such as “original posts with 60 or more characters”, “You can’t have negative trust or other advertisements”, etc. Sometimes, there’s also a minimum post requirement per week.
Seeing as writing a constructive post of at least 60 words takes a minimum of five minutes, my guess is that if you work for 24 hours straight, you can make 0.144BTC. So you’ll be making $64.08 for 24 hours of work. This, of course, does not include the number of posts you need to write in order to get the required membership level on BitcoinTalk. Also, many campaigns have a “maximum posts allowed per week” policy, so you may not be able to work a full 24 hours.

Writing for blogs and news sites ($31.25/hour on avg.)

If you think you have enough knowledge to contribute about Bitcoin, you can always become a writer for a blog or a news site. Many sites need to fill up a daily quota of posts, and they are desperately looking for writers. We hire the occasional writer on 99Bitcoins as well, and I can say that the salary of a blog post writer will vary significantly based on your experience, control of the English language and expertise. If you’re a top-notch writer, you can even make up to $80 per 1000-word blog post. On average, I’m guessing most writer get somewhere around $35 for a 1000-word blog post.
But writing a good blog post takes time. For example, it took me about four hours to write this 2400-word blog post. So let’s say, theoretically, that I can work for 24 hours straight; I’ll be making around $750. If you want to become a writer, the best way to find Bitcoin blogs that are looking for writers is through Coinality, which aggregates all of the Bitcoin jobs being posted online.

#3 – Supply Bitcoin-related services

This category is a bit broad, as it includes every possible Bitcoin service that you can think of that someone would pay for. The best ways to get ideas for services you can provide is to visit either Coinality (which I’ve mentioned previously) or the services thread on BitcoinTalk. Some examples for services people are looking for:
  • Blockchain developer
  • Website manager
  • Graphic design expert
  • Mining expert
  • Online marketer, etc.

Becoming a Bitcoin escrow agent

One example of a service you can provide is becoming a Bitcoin escrow agent and getting paid for arbitration in Bitcoin transactions. Of course, this will mean you will need to gain some sort of reputation for yourself as a trustworthy person in the community.
I can’t really put a price estimate on this category, since every service is different. This is something you will have to personally research depending on the service you’d like to provide.

#4 – Mine Bitcoins

I’m going to be brief about this option. Bitcoin Mining is Not a way to earn bitcoin fast and free. It takes a lot of time, research and money that you’ll need to invest into mining equipment. If you’re a newbie, then you probably shouldn’t be pursuing this. If you’re a veteran, then you probably already know this.
Sure, you’ll be able to generate Bitcoins even if you use your own PC at home, , you’ll see that you’ll be making 0.00000968BTC  a day ($0.0043) and spending perhaps 100x that on electricity bills or cooling down your computer (in hopes it doesn’t get ruined in the process). If you’ve missed our latest video about Bitcoin mining, perhaps this will give you a clearer explanation of what mining is and why you should probably stay away from it.

#5 – Gambling

This part doesn’t need a lot of explanation, I guess. There are a lot of Bitcoin gambling websites out there that will gladly take your money for the chance of winning a bigger pot. Here’s just one example. The upside about gambling is that it doesn’t take any specific skill to start doing it; the downside is that it’s much more likely that you’ll lose all of your Bitcoins than actually win anything.

#6 – Bitcoin trading

Today, there are many forms of Bitcoin trading available. If you’re interested in getting started with trading, you need to make sure you have the required knowledge.

Bitcoin day trading

Day trading is the buying and selling of Bitcoins on the same day,  on the basis of small, short-term price fluctuations. So, if you think that Bitcoin’s price is going to go up, it’s a good time to buy some Bitcoins and sell them off after you’ve made a profit. In order to participate in actual day trading, you’ll have to own or buy Bitcoins.

Bitcoin CFDs (contracts for difference)

This is similar to day trading, but different to the extent that you don’t have to buy Bitcoins. When you buy Bitcoin CFDs, you can do it through a broker . The idea is that instead of buying the actual asset (Bitcoin) and then selling it later, you buy a contract for that asset, so you don’t have to deal with actually holding or storing Bitcoins. With CFDs you can also short sell – meaning make a profit when Bitcoin’s price goes down.Image result for convert bitcoin to naira

You will need 2 people for Level 1, 4 people for Level 2, 8 people for Level 3, 16 people for Level 4 and 32 people for your final level- Level 5. At Level 5, you can sit back and enjoy your bountiful harvest of ±55 BTC after making the life-changing decision to join Bitcogate with just 0.02 BTC.

WHAT IS BITCOIN?

Bitcoin is a form of digital currency, created and held electronically. No one controls it. Bitcoins aren’t printed, like dollars or euros – they’re produced by people, and increasingly businesses, running computers all around the world, using software that solves mathematical problems.
It’s the first example of a growing category of money known as cryptocurrency.

The best and simplest definition for Bitcoin is this “Bitcoin is Money”. Yes, Bitcoin is the money of our generation and the future generations.  Well, in the history of money, several object has been used to carry out transactions. Money in itself is any clearly identifiable object of value that is generally accepted for payment of goods and services and repayment of debts within a market or which is a legal tender. Bitcoin fulfills all of these. In the past, money has taken many forms like cowry shells, beads, precious metal, paper, and in our generation it is becoming digital in form of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

What makes it different from normal currencies?

Bitcoin can be used to buy things electronically. In that sense, it’s like conventional dollars, euros, or yen, which are also traded digitally.
However, bitcoin’s most important characteristic, and the thing that makes it different to conventional money, is that it is decentralized. No single institution controls the bitcoin network. This puts some people at ease, because it means that a large bank can’t control their money.

''Bitcoin could be used as a means for economic liberty, since it is easy to use, secure and reliable for merchants. It is not only used as a world currency, but also as a savings asset. It is the “one last economic fortress”.

What makes Bitcoin unique?

It is a digital, decentralized, cryptocurrency and a gateway to send money anywhere around the world with just the click of a mouse or the scan of a QR code to anyone with internet access.  Yet, one must never take the decentralized nature of Bitcoin for granted.
